Mental Health Counseling / Trauma-informed Therapy
In-person and online sessions currently available for children, teens, and adults
Successfully navigating our world is becoming increasingly complex for children, adolescents, and adults alike. Mixed messages, regular stressors, and new (often unexpected) challenges compete for our time, attention, and energy on a daily basis. It is easy to become exhausted and overwhelmed.
Rather than add another voice to the mix, I sit with my clients and help them filter through the "noise" in order to help them eliminate discrepancies between their lives today and who they want to be in the future.
I work well with clients who face challenges with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and autism as well as behavioral and anger issues.
"Trauma is not what happens to you.
Trauma is what happens inside you
as a result of what happens to you."
-- Dr. Gabor Maté
Trauma-informed therapy explores how current dysfunctional behaviors are the result of normal reactions to past negative events, experiences, and circumstances, especially those from childhood. Often, what worked as a survival technique during a time of crisis can be detrimental to our everyday lives and prevent us from realizing our full potential.
Trauma-informed therapy asks 'what happened to you' rather than 'what is wrong with you', explores the behaviors related to those experiences, and helps facilitate change that allows for true healing.
I completed my Master's in Counseling at Missouri State University and am certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors.
I consider it a privilege to sit with each of my clients, listen as they share their experiences, and assist them in identifying positive ways to process those events as they move forward.
Each of my clients is a unique individual with a complex set of life experiences and counseling needs. Because of this, I customize sessions with
a variety of approaches including client-centered, solution-focused, and cognitive behavior therapy.
